LOCAL BOYS SHINE IN THE PALM TREE CLASSIC MEET

Azarian U.S Gymnastics’ Boys Team Level’s 4-10 conquered Soka University with Impressive Performances at the Palm Tree Classic

Aliso Viejo, Calif, February 20, 2007 -- Local athletes representing the Azarian U.S. Gymnastics Training Center in Aliso Viejo put on impressive performances at the annual Palm Tree Classic at Soka University right here in Aliso Viejo on February 17-19.

    The Azarian’s boys team (levels 4-10) took home a number of 1st place trophies at its fourth competition of the season. The Palm Tree Classic Meet is a one of the biggest meets of the year. With over 350 gymnasts, the Azarian Boy’s Team really stood out. Azarian Gymnastics hosts this large event every year at Soka University with the help and support of all the team parents at Azarian Gymnastics.

Top individual performers for the boys’ team include:

·         The top scores for Level 5 boys were: Joey Ringer, who placed 1st All-Around in his age group, Christopher Diem from San Juan Capistrano also placed 1st All-Around in his age group, Jay Yeam from San Clemente got a 9.500 on Vault, Peter Menke and Cole Riel both did great on Vault. The rest of the Level 5 boys did an impressive job also, with the team taking home the 2nd place Team trophy.

·         Standouts for Azarian’s Level 6 boys were -- Marty Strech from Fountain Valley placed 1st on every event and 1st All – Around with an impressive 57.800, and Mark Lohde from Aliso Viejo, received a 9.100 on Floor. Bryan Falzetti, coming back from an injury had an impressive meet finishing 10th All-Around. The level 6 Team took 3rd place altogether. The rest of the boys also did a wonderful job.

·         For Level 7 boys, the top scorers were: Adam Young, from Newport Beach winning vault with an amazing 9.800, and Kevin Tran from Fountain Valley placed 1st on Floor with a score of 9.600. Brion Kerry from Huntington Beach placed received a 9.700 on Vault, Brandon Peters, from Costa Mesa got a 9.400 on Floor, and Jeremiah Delayo, from Rancho Santa Margarita received a 9.600 on Vault. The level 7 team took home the 2nd place trophy.

·         For Azarian’s boys team Level 8-10 top scores were: Level 10 boys Sean Reilly from Huntington Beach placed 3rd All-Around and had a solid meet, Erik Lundgren from Laguna Hills, placed 1st All-Around, Donothan Bailey placed 2nd All-Around. The rest of the Level 10’s did a great job and the Team took home the 1st place trophy. Eddie Shin, Level 8 from Laguna Niguel, had a great meet, and Mitchell Schusler, fresh from an injury took 1st All Around. Kevin Wolting, Level 9, from Costa Mesa one of our Future Stars Competitors and Team Member, placed 2nd All-Around.

The Azarian boys’ team is half-way through their competition season, and still have many exciting meets to look forward to including: State Championships at Biola University in March, and the regional competition (for those who qualify) in Hawaii in April.

Overall, it was a very successful meet for the boys.
