LOCAL BOYS DEMAND ATTENTION IN LAS VEGAS INVITATIONAL

Azarian U.S Gymnastics’ Boys Team Level’s 8-10 conquered Las Vegas with Impressive Performances at the Blackjack Invitational

Aliso Viejo, Calif, February 9, 2007 -- Local athletes representing the Azarian U.S. Gymnastics Training Center in Aliso Viejo put on impressive performances in Las Vegas at the Blackjack Invitational on February 9-11.

    The Azarian’s boy’s team (levels 8-10) took home a 1st and 3rd place trophies at its fourth competition of the season. The Blackjack Invitational is a very large meet for the Men’s Gymnastics World. The Azarian Boy’s Team has the honor of competing with gymnastics clubs around the world. Some of the teams there included people from Canada and Mexico. This competition is also home to the Winter Cup Championships where the professional gymnastics compete to qualify for other meets throughout the year. It is a large competition that is broadcasted live on the internet and it did not disappoint this year. It was a fun and memorable event.

Top individual performers for the boys’ team include:

·         Azarian had one Level 8 boy, Eddie Shin. He had a very solid meet. He placed 7th place All-Around and scoring a 9.100 on Floor and a 9.250 on P. Bars. Great job Eddie!

·         Azarian also had one Level 9, Michael Custodio. He had a good as well. One of his top scores was a 9.400 on Floor with a beautiful routine.

·         For Level 10 boys, the top scorers were: Donothan Bailey, from Mission Viejo placed 7th All-Around and placed 1st on Pommel, where he was the National Champion on in 2006, and Jimmy Kerry, from Huntington Beach, also placed 7th All Around. Sean Riley from Huntington Beach, also had a successful meet. Erik Lundgren, placed 8th All-Around with some beautiful routines, and Alex Goodman, Andrew Duron, and Steve Lacombe, also had a very good meet. The Level 10 ages 14-15, placed 3rd Team, and the Level 10’s ages 16-18 took home the 1st place trophy.

The Azarian boys’ team is now halfway through their competition season and still have some exciting meets to look forward to including: the Palm Tree Classic, which is hosted by Azarian Gymnastics at Soka University on February 17-19, and the regional competition (for those who qualify) in Hawaii.
