ALISO VIEJO GYMNASTS MAKE A MARK AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Watching the sport of gymnastics is fascinating. To own a gym with over 500 gymnasts in it, is a dream come true. This weekend for owner of Azarian Gymnastics Training Center in Aliso Viejo, Eduard Azarian, it was one of the best competitions.

The State Championships for the Level 5 girls all age divisions were held Saturday and Sunday November 11-12 at the Laguna Hills Community Center.

The State Championships was the final competition for the Level 5, and 6. All they have left is an Invitational in Las Vegas and one in Los Angeles. The Sectionals qualifying meet for the State Championships was held on Saturday October 21, in Los Angeles.

“I was there for most of the sessions this weekend, and the girls did an amazing job. I was very nervous for all of them, but they had a beautiful meet. I am very, very proud of them,” said Azarian, a World and Olympic Gold medalist himself.

The girls indeed did an amazing job. Some of the top scores included; Callie Riel, with a 9.175 on Vault, and a 9.00 on Bars finished 14th All around, Alyssa Webb with a 9.225 on Vault and a 9.00 on Floor and placing 10th All Around, Kayli Davies got a 9.350 on Vault and finished 15th All around, Mikayla Kelly, with a 9.325 on Beam and a 9.225 on Floor placing 7th All Around, and Hunter Littlejohn, got a 9.050 on Bars finishing 16th All Around.
